It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love. So it could mean (A) Most obviously: Alan Wake 2 is coming or (B) Somewhat likely: They are starting up a new IP.When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. Also, it was confirmed a while back that Remedy was hiring engineers to work on the next iteration of the Alan Wake engine. Now, as to why they didn't advertise it if they felt it was special is beyond me, but the fact that they even came out and said it means that they still have plans for it. Microsoft a few months ago came out and said that Alan Wake was a good fit for the Xbox 360 Porfolio. And of course, those who don't even have a 360 will, as their custom is, run their mouths. But those who enjoyed the game will support it, and those who did not, won't. Cannot WAIT for Alan Wake 2! I fully expect trolls to be out in full-force. I hope this encourages the NYT's readers to step out and buy Alan Wake, because it truly is an experience meant for those who can appreciate it, and 12 year old trigger happy fiends DO NOT fall into that category. YES! Finally, some recognition for my personal GOTY. After I completed the game, I went back and replay every possible variation to see every possible ending. Heavy Rain is more like watching a movie that changes with the player's decision. (The only reason to replay would be to get the collectible items for the achievements but that still doesn't change the story). After I was done with AW, I did't care to replay it again. Being a video game, Alan Wake plays more like a game but no matter how I play, as long Alan stays alive until the end of the game, the ending is always the same. I felt like I don't really care if Alan can save his wife as long I can get to the end of the game. While I enjoyed AW, the character's emotional on the gameplay seems to be detached from what Alan supposed to be feeling. I felt what the characters went through especially Ethan (father) and I wanted to see variation of each character's (even the killer) motive. Characters in HR have deeper emotional depth.
